Monsoon season in Vietnam's beautiful Cao Pha Valley

May and June are collectively known as “the season of falling water” in the northeastern highlands of Vietnam, as monsoon rains cascade down terraced rice paddies, marking the start of a new season.

In Cao Pha Valley  flooded fields mingle with fields where rice has already grown. The fields belong to members of the Mong and Thai ethnic minority groups who reside in Yen Bai Province’s Mu Cang Chai District. 





Local women grow rice.


At 10-11 years old, children begin helping their families with cultivation, while younger ones mainly play around.

Many people bring their kids to the fields with them.
