Hundreds of white hackers from around the world are expected to join a security competition hosted by the Hanoi-based technology corporation Bkav next month, local media reported on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Bkav said the first two rounds will take place online on the website, challenging competitors to solve different security issues on October 24-25.
Ten shortlisted teams will take part in the final round in Hanoi on December 19, and will compete with one another in the attack-defense pattern within eight hours without breaks.
Bkav said the first prize is US$10,000, the second $2,000, and the third $1,000.
The competition, officially known as WhiteHat Grand Prix - Global Challenge 2015, will be an opportunity to promote Vietnam's Internet security expertise, Ngo Tuan Anh, a vice chairman of Bkav, was quoted as saying.
WhiteHat Grand Prix was first organized last year, but the quarterly competition was limited to local hackers only.
When it was expanded worldwide in July, the contest attracted nearly 200 teams from many countries around the world, including the Japan, the US, which boast the most participants with nearly 20 teams, and South Korea.
