Vietnamese hotel firm fined, loses license for building too tall

Authorities in Binh Thuan Province fined a private company VND1 billion (US$47,070) and revoked its construction license on Friday for building too high in the resort town of Mui Ne.
According to the provincial Department of Construction, the Muong Thanh Hotel Group was fined after inspectors discovered a team of builders extending the Muong Thanh Mui Ne Hotel beyond its the vertical limits of its construction license which limited it to four floors.
When the inspectors made their discovery, the team of workers had already finished the seventh floor.
The company reportedly ignored the inspectors' stop-work order, forcing local authorities to revoke their license.
The Muong Thanh Hotel Group has built more than 30 hotels around the country.
