Samsung workers in northern Vietnam suspected of stealing 100 phones
By Thanh Nien News -
Police in the northern province of Thai Nguyen have taken into custody two workers of a local Samsung factory on suspicion of stealing 100 smartphones totally worth over VND1.5 billion (US$66,000), local media reported on Friday.
Trinh Hong Son and Trinh Van Khanh, both 20, were accused of taking the phones during a lunch break on October 19, the state-run ANTV television channel quoted police as saying.
The men allegedly hid them in the storage for faulty products, then moved them to another place within the factory later that same day, according to the report.
Four days later the factory's security guards discovered the suspicious packages and called the police.
Soon after that Son and Khanh turned themselves in.
Last year a group of five workers at another Samsung factory in the northern province of Bac Ninh were caught stealing over 300 printed circuit boards worth more than VND800 million ($35,200).
