Police seize civets, other wild animals from bus in central Vietnam

Police in the south central province of Binh Dinh Saturday seized hundreds of wild animals from a bus, but the driver and his assistant managed to flee before they could apprehend them.

Traffic police officers flagged down the bus for a routine check, but he sped up and his assistant threw two bags onto the road that contained 16 Asian palm civets, dozens of snakes, and many frogs, eels, and lobsters.

The police later found the bus abandoned on the road.

The wild animals have been handed over to local forest rangers.
