Hanoi to spend $500 million on first rescue, firefighting aircraft

Hanoi has announced a plan to spend around VND11.5 trillion (US$514.4 million) modernizing its firefighting forces, including buying two aircraft.
One aircraft will be used for rescue missions and the other for firefighting. It has not been disclosed which models will be chosen.
The city also said it expects to employ around 6,500 people in the fire police department by 2025. 
Nguyen Van Son, deputy director of the department, told Tuoi Tre newspaper the aircraft purchase plan has been approved, adding that deliveries will come at “suitable time.”
Ho Chi Minh City has also announced a similar plan to equip its rescue and firefighting forces with six aircraft in the next decade.
