Police in the southern province of Dong Nai on Friday arrested two suspects for smuggling 14 kilograms of methamphetamine on a train from Hanoi.
Officers checked the train at Bien Hoa Station and found the drug.
Both suspects, 45, are from Hanoi.
Police believe the men smuggled the drug from the China border and planned to sell it in southern Vietnam.
Their investigation continues.
Vietnam has some of the world’s toughest drug laws. Those convicted of possessing or smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine face the death penalty.
The production or sale of 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal narcotics is also punishable by death.
