The mandatory Ebola quarantine order on Chu Van Chung and the medical staff who care for him has been lifted.

 
The Da Nang Health Department received results this afternoon from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology that show a patient currently in isolation in Da Nang Hospital does not have Ebola, an official said. 
The patient, Chu Van Chung, is being treated for malaria.
Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Vice Director of Da Nang Health Department, said the mandatory Ebola quarantine order on Chung and the medical staff who care for him has been lifted.
Chung's condition is improving "very well," she said. 
However, doctors will continue to monitor Chung for the required 21-day period in accordance with official guidelines, Yen said.
Chung, a native to the northern province of Thanh Hoa who worked in Guinea for two years, returned to Da Nang on Friday after going through Morocco, Qatar, and Ho Chi Minh City.
He was admitted to Da Nang Hospital Saturday afternoon after showing Ebola-like symptoms of headache and high fever. Initial test results on him are positive for malaria.
Yen said the lesson learned from this case is "screening at airports and ports must be further tightened."
"Just a mistake in screening which lets Ebola-infected people into Vietnam will leave the public health sector in huge difficulty in order to prevent or control the disease," she said.
