Film fest screens European, Vietnamese documentaries in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be hosting free screenings of several European and Vietnamese documentaries until June 20 to show the visual worlds of experience from a variety of cultures.
The 7th European – Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival introduces pieces from Vietnam, Denmark, Germany, France, Israel, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Spain and Sweden.
It has a section to introduce the works of young filmmakers from Southeast Asia.
A statement from Hanoi-based Goethe Institute which organizes the event said the themes of the films reflect discourses in contemporary society and provide a basis for discussion and exchange.
This year, two films from Israel and Denmark address the issue of gender and identity as they portraying the lives of two young people outside normative gender boundaries.
Many Vietnamese contributions focus on the experiences and the horrors of the Vietnam War, which ended 40 years ago.
Screenings in Hanoi will continue every day from June 10 to 19 at the National Studio for Documentary and Scientific Film (465 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Ba Dinh District) and in Ho Chi Minh City between June 11 and 20 at Hoa Sen University (8 Nguyen Van Trang Street, District 1).
Most will start at 7 p.m.
