Award-winning conductor Kahchun Wong returning to Hanoi for special concert
By Thanh Nien News -
Singaporean-born conductor Kahchun Wong will perform with Vietnam's national orchestra at the Hanoi Opera House on Thursday, his third appearance here since 2014.
Organizers of the concert announced that Wong, the artistic director of the Asian Contemporary Ensemble, will conduct Symphony No.5, a touching symphony of Felix Mendelssohn, which Wong had studied with his late mentor Kurt Masur, a world-renowned music director.
“I am thrilled to be back in Hanoi to work with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra under the invitation of their chief conductor Honna Tetsuji-san,” said Wong. ““This is a special city with musicians who play with their hearts, and I have a feeling that we will again make a special and memorable experience together.”
Wong, 30, won the highest prize at the 4th International Conducting Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest in 2013.
He is considered one of the top Asian conductors and is highly in demand as a guest conductor with orchestras in more than 20 cities worldwide.
Tickets start at VND200,000.
